Because Berthold's the shit
It was hard to draw Berthold looking surprised because I found out he doesn't have eyebrows... for some reason
I don't think Riza had a bad relationship with her father, even though they were estranged. I mean, Berthold had to have trusted Riza if he entrusted her with his entire life's research, and then he felt bad for her when he was dying saying he couldn't do much for her and so on and so forth. I mean, I don't think they had a normal closeness of a father and daughter, but I think they had some sort of different close yet not close bond. If that makes sense
I could go on for a while about my thoughts on Berthold and Riza's relationship 
And especially here, when Riza's younger, and she depends on him to take closer care of her and stuff like that
Following in Riza's examle, I'm giving this picture to my own father
Oh, and just to clarify... the picture Riza drew is of her, her mother, and Berthold

But you never use that style to draw, instead you use the manga style, why this choise?

And it is easy to draw compared with the american style and even more attractive.

Personally I think they had the odd relationship of loving each other, but Berthold being a shitty dad... While still loving his daughter. Then again, how couldn't he? She's adorable!

I totally agree with you on their relationship as daughta and fatha! :3 I just dont think that it was like...how some daughters always call their dad's "daddy" and stuff. But i think she loved him and called him dad until she got older and realized he was sorta cold and separted from her.....so she sorta kept to herself...
