Sometimes its good not to continue good fanfiction. If the author isn't interested in it but still writes it, it could turn out horribly in the end. It happened to the author of Rocket To Insanity (MLP). The fic at first was fantastic but as time went on the author didn't know how to continue it. The demand for a continuation got so big they wrote the rest without putting as much effort into it as they did in the first place. The fic is now "finished" and complete CRAP now.

Though I am guilty of this myself. I cancelled a story of mine a while back. And I felt awful, like I let the whole world down. It's a sucky feeling.

This was how I felt when TheCrayonQueen announced that she was cancelling AskError.

So, so very true. It's like when you finally see a new update after waiting for soooo long, but then you discovered that the artist is no longer working on the comic. I've actually run into a couple of good comics where the artists are no longer working on their comics, but you do see them draw fan art of their own characters once and a while.
It's the worst feeling ever. You want to know what happens next and what happens to the characters and how the story will end.
