Sometimes the thing is that fan input has its drawbacks. People would argue against some fanon ideas being portrayed "the wrong way". Thus forcing either a drop in the story or a complete retcon overhaul.
Much like how you'd say "how do you like to portray Nobunaga Oda and Zeus"? Would it be "correct" enough or "radical" enough? Picky fanbases who will growl at any incoming Mary Sue/Marty Stu presences will no doubt cause some writers to reconsider themselves.
