Description
This was just a quick one! I'm actually too tired to ever register if I'm happy with this or not atm!Still trying to get Katniss from The Hunger Games/Catching Fire right in my head. I'm happy with my previous design but she looks too old so I'm trying to keep the design but make her look younger.
Also experimenting with dramatic lighting and with medium. This is the first time I've ever painted in ink and in grey scale!

I don't think she looks too old, but worn out and tired--- which is appropriate for her experiences.

to be honest i always imangined her to be pretty in my head suzanne never called her pretty or ugly although there are hints of both even though i still love the picture it`s beautiful and people imagine her in different ways and `im not gonna judge for that but i also love that you made her gritty to i imangined her face pretty but her body thin and a little muscalur although in the second book i imanged her getting curves since she`s not starving anymore all in al it`s wonderful and i love it do you have a drawing of peeta i`d love to see it

This is one of the only depictions of Katniss that make sense to me. Heaps of others just make her look like some sexy glamazon with light brown hair and fair skin. I mean, she comes from the slums of the poorest part of the nation and is specifically noted as having dark hair and olive skin.
This by far captures the sense of trial and hardship.

This is pretty much perfect. I think a lot of dA artwork of Katniss make her look too... pretty, whereas I always thought the book implied she was more unconventially beautiful - which is exactly what you've done here, I think!

I love this, something in her expression is PERFECT! And considering the harsh life she lived and how much she'd been through emotionally--she might look pretty old for her age anyway!

this is by far one of my favorite katniss portraits - it just looks like her; people seem to forget that Katniss is a poor teenager from pretty much teh slums who's almost half-starved to death and rather sour about life. i love how you've captured her emotions here, and her hair is really well done

but... do you plan it out in pencil first, or do you go straight into the inc? i've never done it before, but that drawing looks SO realistc! AND you got all the proportions correct!!! Great job

I sketch it out first lightly in pencil, paint the ink in, and then erase the pencil when I am done

Not really for me, but I'm used to painting in watercolours and in watered-down acrylics, so it depends on your experience. Its an unforgiving medium because if you make a mistake it is hard to cover up.

She has such a strong jawline. Perhaps that is aging her some?

I love this. It's great. Everyone always just Katniss and Peeta all smiling and happy, but if you think about it most of the time in the books consist of them being dirty, tired, and scared. You captured her perfectly. Good job!
