I have adobe photoshop, and im designing a dress for my grad, do you know how i would be able to create a fading design? cause i want the dress to go from like black at the bottom and switch to blue and get lighter as it goes up (like paler sort of) and ive tried bluring and smudging but i can't get it to work the way i want to, so would you by any chance know how to do this??

I'm not exactly sure if this will help, but there are plenty of blending tuts here on dA, like this one: [link] If that fails, then the second option would be using a gradient... The manual blending method is a bit time consuming, but way more effective than blurring or smudging.
