I'll be honest I've nevi played an Animal Crossing game in my life. The only way I even know about Issabelle is through Mario Kart 8. Other than that and Smash Bros I've got no experience with Animal Crossing. :/

I've played the series since the beginning when the first internationally version was released on the gamecube (Japan had 3 versions of that game).
I find the game fun but I kinda depends on what kind of games you like playing.
Pretty much it's you live in a town populated by animals. You fish, catch bugs, dig up fossils and sell stuff. You have your own house which you furnish and can expand. Your progress is basically unlocking shops and upgrading your house along with filling up the museum with fossils, bugs, fish and paintings.
... The basic outline makes it sound kinda dull but I like it anyway.

Well I do like running around aimlessly (Example: Fallout 3) Heck when I had my PS2 I would get absorbed playing the Sims 2 messing around in that game was somehow a blast. Heck I play Tomodachi Life when ever I'm on the bus not playing Smash 3DS. So I might like the games.

Lots of people compared the game to Animal Crossing. He finishes the comparison by about 1:20.

I don't think there is a demo of New Leaf, hopefully it should be cheaper now.
