Aaprila, being the mother of the cubs, jumped in front of the other lions to confront the intruder. “Who’s there?! Show yourself! I heard you, so it’s no use in hiding!” as her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the den, she saw a frightened bird next to a pair of sleeping cubs. The bird was short, light blue, and had a long tail with a short beak. “U-um! It’s not what it l-looks like!” very timid. Suddenly Amani rushes forwards “wait! This is the one that was going to watch after your cubs while we fought!” her voice was overflowing with panic. The bird seemed to relax at the familiar lioness in sight. “Amani! I didn’t know that the parents of these cubs would kill at the sound of s-someone’s voice!” the bird chirped nervously. “They’re not like that Li!” there we go. A name. So Amani DOES know this bird. “I’ve known them for a long time! Aaprila here saved me from a stampede when I was only a cub!” Li’s expression softened. “Oh… was this the lioness that had they’re mate die from your stampede?” Aaprila’s eyes widened. She remembers as clear as day what happened to Inuyasha when he was still known as Nagisa. “Amani… how much did you tell this bird..?” her voice took a grim turn. Amani started to look scared. Just as she was about to speak, Inuyasha stepped in. “is everything alright? I heard the words ‘mate’ and ‘died’. Who died?” Inuyasha asked curiously. Amani looked over Aaprila’s shoulder with a pleading look that blatantly said ‘help me get out of this situation, please!’ inuyasha immediately got a solemn look on his face and nudged Aaprila. “Was it about the incident?” Aaprila looked at Inuyasha with misty eyes and nodded. Meanwhile in the background, Amani was trying her best to explain the scenario to Li as quickly as possible while Inuyasha was consoling Aaprila. “So then he drank this… thing..?” “so he drank a living thing?” “no no no! It was a liquid!” “but didn’t he die? And wasn’t his name N something?” “1, he was knocked out and had a really slow pulse, and was taken in by some cheetahs, and 2, it WAS Nagisa, and now he wanted to be someone else so he changed his name to Inuyasha!” “oh, ok. When are we going back to pride rock?” there was a silence between the two friends. “...We’re not.” “what? Why?” Inuyasha looked to everyone else. “It’s getting late. We’ll go hunting tomorrow, so we’ll need the rest.” Li looked at Amani and chirped quietly “Amani…” “i’ll tell you tomorrow.”
