Remember my animatic from November?
WE FINISHED IT AND HANDED IT IN YEEEEEEEEAH.
Obviously some things have changed from the animatic and we had to make time-compromises and other-rageragerage-compromises, but we tried hardest to keep the mood intact.
THIS BITCH PUT US THROUGH HELL. The ambient occlusion pass kept arseing around, the boy's eyebrows fluffed up every few frames, his eyes opened and became PITCH BLACK, his hair reset itself, and more. And that was only during the rendering. Before that we had the boys EYES reflected in the car and staring at us, a brick wall and a face floating past on the car (before we dumped the weird daytime HDRI and used a darker and more appropriately coloured one), and glorious lighting episodes of variously looking like he was being shot at or staring at the Hiroshima incident out of the window. xDDDD
BUT YES. We are happy and bushy-tailed, if not bright-eyed. We rendered in the wrong aspect ratio, which was annoying, but we might redo it in the right one, and Spence is thinking of sending an HD one to the renderfarm when that exists. >3>

OMG that's just so realistic mixed with surrealism, mixed with feelings... The music is just so awesome and the high tones just like drops. This movie is simply stunning!

When I saw the dancer I was totally mind-blown!
You did an amazing job! At first, it gives the feeling of something calm, you don't really expect anything.
But then the tiny, little dancer appears and you're AMAZED. Something so tiny and beautiful in something as normal as rain. Really shows what I think a lot of people have been thinkong but haven't really succeeded in showing.

It is an overall amazing job. You should really be proud. It is rare for me to feel this much just from a short clip like this.

We used RealFlow for the water - I didn't personally cover that, but I gather from the two in the group that did that it was a lot of confusing work. xD

This was...Well, very amazing. The ballerina was just beautiful. Though, I thought the boy was bald at first.

Pfff, you have no idea what some of the early bad renders looked like. xDD Bald would have been normal. We had one where the boy's eyes were open and entirely black. It was horrible. xDD And all the subsurface scattering passes looked horrifying too because it was just the skin with no eyes - and red inside the eye sockets. 8C
But yes, thank you very much :3 It was, but we're really happy with the result still.
