Many thanks, Cindy It was hot and for some reason there were bumble bees buzzing all around as I tried to set up for a shot. A lower angle might have been better, but the ground gave way to deep mud beyond the edge of a small, dry island.

I see nothing wrong with the angle, looked like a beautiful place,is this near you? Thanks for sharing my friend. Good thing you didn't get in that mud. I have seen places like this in Nevada on the reservation on the north west side.

Tecopa Hot Springs is about 80 miles from Las Vegas, or 50 miles north of Baker, California. A wide spot in the road, Tecopa was once very popular with motor home and RV hook-up stalls lining the road east for a mile or more and the "town" center packed full of people. Probably the largest RV community in the West. Suddenly, the place folded, motels closed, and RV stalls returned to weeds and jackrabbits. A scare over an unspecified, infectious disease ran everyone away. Mud mites were later referred to as the culprit. The public baths are well maintained and perfectly safe. Tecopa is at the eastern edge of ancient Tecopa Lake. To the west are now abandoned caves once occupied by people who carved homes into the dry mud hills during the Great Depression. [link] . The link provides reference material from the BLM for the Amargosa River area. This would be an easy weekend exploration trip for you. Old Tonopah-Tidewater steam train railbeds may be seen from Baker northward to Tonopah and west to Blair. It will soon be too hot to explore, so the northwest side you mentioned sounds better for exploration until fall.

Ok, I looked it up and I have come through there a few times we used 373 to 127 to get to 15 when we came back from Oregon, we were just looking. I do remember the signs and that it looked closed up. The Indian Res, I was talking about is Duck Valley on the Idaho border it is a beautiful and cool drive even in August, loads of wildlife and plenty of water, lots of camping and fishing near Owyhee we came down 51 and it turns into 225 to Elko, But I have to say that Angel Lake at Wells is the most beautiful and the top of the mountain there is always snow and it is very cool at night, loved reading about Tecopa, thanks for the info, I will have to get out next time and really look.
