i might as well upload this nowi finished it like, back in early july and just never uploaded it??? and have picked at it a few times but there wasn't much point.
anyway this was after i finished all the HL series and stuff and had this ridiculous fancanon story in my head of chell traversing the combine-ravaged world and meeting with gordon and alyx. oh and also a broken wheatley.
and i know that chell is supposed to just be silent to piss off the AIs and gordon we have no idea about, but i wanted to draw them talking in sign language because fuck you i want them to be able to do this.
in my head chell has been mute and hard of hearing since birth and knows sign language, though after being in aperture she is a little rusty with ALL language. gordon is not hearing-impaired but has a larynx injury due to toxic smoke inhalation (hey, MIT nerds can get rowdy) so therefore doesn't talk.
looking back i should have done something more action-y (leave it to me to draw action-heroes sitting and talking) but⦠yeah i am just gonna leave it to this.

I think that Aperture does something to their subjects that removes their ability to speak.

There is also the theory that Apature temporarily disables a persons ability to talk so that the test subject can't just make all the AI's explode using a paradox.

I find it cool of the idea of if Chell and Gordon met each other, but you took it to another level by having them in a silent conversation with sign language. Well done

Oh god what a great headcanon. This is wonderful. I somehow always kind of imagine Valve's characters knowing each other in these distant ways, but this beautifully ties these two stories together.

Oh wow, and I definitely like this. I love the idea of the two mutes trying to communicate. Great colors and lighting.
Being hard of hearing myself I'm sure I've had the occasional snarky jibe just sail over my head for my inability to pick up on what's being said. It's probably just as well for me. XD

meh. all you see these days are pin-ups, action scenes, or fandom humor with these guys. it is nice to see a "general idea" picture of them.

One word describes what I think of this piece: AWESOME. I am just in awe of it and could go on forever about how much I love it. I tend to ramble enough as it is so I will simply say that it is awesome through and through. And I love the motive for how the characters would communicate!
