Hello from Costa Rica! Two days ago, I was lucky enough to take a guided tour in the Monteverde cloud forest where I saw this little guy- the elusive quetzal. They are GORGEOUS! He went straight into my guidebook (more posts are available on Patreon).Related content

OMG you are in Costa Rica??!!! I hope you're having a good time, this is the first time I know about an artist in dA that came to my country.
I love quetzals, they're one of my favorite birds, their colors and feathers are just so...!!!!! *-*Β Though, I've only seen them on photos (that feeling when a foreigner knows better your country than you xDDD)
I really like the way you painted it, all those color and small details are beautiful, and your calligraphy is amazing too!

Hi there!!! Yes! I am I am in Costa Rica until June 6th for painting and photojournalism classes. It has been amazing so far! I love the wildlife, the food, and of course the people. Everyone is so hospitable, even to a gringa like me πΒ
It it was amazing to see one of these guys in the wild! Have you been to the Monteverde cloud forest? The guides are really good at spotting them- and don't feel bad! I've been doing all of the touristy things haha. I'm trying to also get to know the country as best I can. I know a little Spanish, so I'm doing my best to speak it as much as possible.

Not yet, but it's one of the first places I want to visit when I finish my studies (and have money, of course hahaha). What places have you already visited?
I am from Guadalupe in San Jose but as my family comes from Guanacaste I also know a little bit from it.

its a bird not many people paint and there was this pet store that had a giant one painted on. the owner was Guatemalan as am I it is the national bird of the country and my dad always told me stories of the bird from folklore to actual facts!!! I have sadly never seen one and hope to someday be able to but for now I love to see it in art cuz like I said not many people paint this bird. U have no idea how much this really means/speaks to meΒ
