Description
My very favourite shot from my recent vacation, seen in a side alley of Venice. I was desperate to escape the masses who crawled along the main shopping streets and found this.Related content

I adore the colors of the buildings in this. In general, I adore the naturalness and simplicity of this photo. Really makes me feel like I'm seeing a true, actual, place in Venice. Unaltered and natural!
Good shot!

Thanks for your comment. You managed to express exactly what I felt at that moment, too. I was so fed up with the mass tourism in this city and headed for the streets furthest away from all this hoopla, and this was the most beautiful place I found. there was such peace!

Simple. Beautiful. I love rural photographs and especially ones that tell stories. This picture really is worth a thousand words and describes life over there. Even if there usually is a mass of people, there are always small streets to escape to. So much character! I love this!

I find that the simpler a picture is, the more powerful it is. The dangers of a complicated shot are that the eye doesn't know where to look first. I was very happy to find that woman walking down that quiet alley and knew in a heartbeat that I just *had* to capture it. It was such a wonderful contrast to the overcrowded tourist streets.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments!

I love the colors in this so much! and it looks like the old lady is walking towards the light, towards something "better". Beautiful!

That's what made me realize this as a moment I *had* to capture. I've got all these colours in my living room because I like how they work together. Thank you!

Wonderful shot. I like how the blues contrast with the yellow in the background.

It was what caught my eye, as well... and the peace of this scene.

I love this so hard. I think its how the cool light in the foreground takes up more space, but the warm light makes up for it in intensity and makes it feel balanced. Fantastic, really.

Thank you. It was one of the very rare occasions when I turned around the corner and saw this scene, and it was like "This is my photo!!". I was so happy to capture it, because it happened very fast. They're all my favourite colours, too.

This candid shot eleborates such solitude. I love the composition of the walls, enclosing into the subject matter. Well done, such simplicity yet this is my favourite.

Thank you very much. It's my favourite shot of that vacation, as well, for the same reasons.
We had only a day in Venice after 10 days in a little village in the mountains, and the mass of people moving through the main streets really put me off. It was only in the quiet side alleys where my muse decided to lift her head to get this.

Oh I can understand that. I could take a book and just sit in that alley and read it.

It's going to get a special place over my couch, because it features all the colours I got in my living room. Can't wait to get my print!

Nice! I love the contrasting colors in the buildings. I agree with the previous comment that it has the same feel as a painting.

Thank you very much! That what struck me the moment I saw this scene; it was as if I had stepped into a painting. I'm happy I was able to capture it like this, and it will surely end up on my wall.

Thank you. I think it actually feels like a painting. As it also contains all the colours I got in my living room, I think I'm going to get me a big print of this and put in on my wall.

I have a T-shirt that says good art won't match your sofa but you have proven it wrong.

Well, that depends of course on your sofa. Mine's a funky thing.

Maybe you should take a picture of your sofa with the photo over it, a whole new genre of art!

Then we will need a new t-shirt that says "good art only matches the artist's sofa"
