Description
Man created machine, and he saw it was good.Man is still the flawed creation.
This is a take on one of the panels that can be found in the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Creation of Adam. I have had this idea floating around in my head for quite some time now, but i finally got to put it into an image
With all the intensity on religion in these past weeks i thought that this might have a place. I had this vice clamp thingy lying around my house and thought it would make a cool "hand" ENJOY!

Shot in RAW (NEF) and converted/edited in PS7
If you ever get a chance read Voltaire's "Candide." Its a brilliant piece of work that deals with religion and belief systems.

Okay....I work in a store that sells primarily surplus items of all strange sorts - but especially a lot of robot-looking parts. And incidentally, that exact same clampy hand-claw. On our ceiling, we have a 'recreation' of that portion of the Sistine Chapel which you took your inspiration from.
I love you concept. I wish this was hanging on our ceiling instead...

i like this photo but isnt that a test tube holder used in chemistry or other sciences? knowing that the object isnt really a machine kindof ruins the magic for me. would be better with a real mechanical hand.

haha very good, yeah its actually a clamp from our laboratory used to hold down the dry ice vacuum trap on the RotoVap machine!

well done - but i have seen this idea SO many times before. the whole human hand / robotic hand thing happens on just every book cover (for books about robotics - which i have read a few) ...and it also occasionally appears on sci-fi book covers. but i'm sure you know that.

Nice concept, I have a bone to pick though... it looks as if the black color on the bottom was added on, it doesn't have the noise-quality that the rest of the photo has.

Hahaha.. very good, you must have a calibrated monitor. It was a horizontal shot but when i realized that i needed negative space i extended the black downard. Very good eye.

Just trying to help ya' get it perfect... if you like, you could always use the stamp tool in photoshop (or whatever) to copy the noise from the top, but that's a lot of work.

You could bump the black levels up just a bit to match it more closely.
