Description
Man created machine, and he saw it was good.Man is still the flawed creation.
This is a take on one of the panels that can be found in the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Creation of Adam. I have had this idea floating around in my head for quite some time now, but i finally got to put it into an image

That's way cool! I thought is was a cool shot when I first saw it, and the correlation with the Sistine Chapel makes it even cooler. YOU ROCK!

*INTERPRETATION ALERT*
Is this supposed to be an interpretation of man's nearly intrinsic bond with machines? Or is it just to look cool?!

Hehehe.. well.. i think its both, man did indeed create machine but yet he is still heavily dependent upon them for basic daily functions! and it was fun to create too so there.. heheh thanks for the kind words!

A good concpt and an excellent piece, given the relationship between the man and the machine implies that machine is a perfect being, yet you said in the artist's comments section that 'man is still the flawed creation' yet machine, being created by man, is just as equally imperfect. perhaps even more so, since God created man and he is perfect.

Good point, yeah i think whats great about photography though is that we can all draw different conclusions from a single image. But i do agree that machines, just like man, are in some ways a reflection of their creator!

Technically the hand should be on the right side and the machine on the other because since man created machine, then he should assume the position of god from the original painting (in which god is to the right and man on the left)
Either way dont take my criticism as me giving you a hard time heh, it really doesnt matter to me much but i sitll wanted to point it out. Great concept on the picture.

KavaWava In reply to devil-in-grey [2005-04-12 02:53:58 +0000 UTC]
haha yeah thanks for the comment though! the reason i was thinking about leaving the hand on the left was that some people see machines almost as gods, something that has seemed to replace everything else in our daily lives; that was just my take on it, but your view is just as valid! Peace!

i love the idea, but as far as compositiongoes, maybe having the clamp and hand reversed, to keep continuety between the creator/created, because, if i am not incorrect, god reaches from the right while adam reaches from the left in the chapel. when god created us, we were on the left, but as we become like god in our creation of machines, we should be moved to the right and the machines take the place of the created on the left. or not.
hmmm didnt mean for this to get that long, but meh. other than that little thing bothering me, it is an excelent adn imaginative peice of work.

KavaWava In reply to PyroGecko [2005-04-11 23:46:31 +0000 UTC]
hehe ya i totally agree with what you're saying about the hand position, but i think that even though we have created machine, we have let almost become our god.. almost like a crutch, i think (in my own personal weird opinion ) But thanks so much for your words of support! hehe

androidi In reply to PyroGecko [2005-04-11 20:24:25 +0000 UTC]
That's a good point. But the way I see it is that when some 500 years ago people had their faith in god now technology has taken god's place. When people have problems they no longer turn to god, they turn to technology (in western countries at least). Seen this way the composition is logical.

This is awesome. Im glad the admins picked this as one of the DDF's, otherwise I'd have missed it. And been a lesser person for not seeing something so remarkable.
Michelangelo wouldn't be upset for using this comparison, if he was able to see our society now. This is.. very good work. Simple, but good quality photo-wise, yet it touches on a world-wide issue, and current struggle in our society. and I ramble, and you'll probably get a trillion comments on this. But wonderful work, and congrats on the DDF. It was well deserved.
