Description
In our new Doctor Who RPG, I'm playing The Engineer, the second Timelord to stand against the Council of Timelords on Gallifrey and banished to earth's history. When his memories finally recovered, he began his adventures by building his own Plasma Screwdriver, using plasma energy instead of sonic or laser. The Engineer is a builder and inventor, creator of many of the Timelords fantastic technologies... unfortunatly, since his banishment, his memory is fragmented, and he barely remembers his own past, let alone his place in it.Original parts by Bagera3005

Plasma is not a beam... it is a collection of extremely excited gases. It has no way of performing the functions you want it to.

Ah, but put those same gasses in a tightly controlled magnetic field, and you get weapons called lightsabers. Im an engineer! I make stuff up!

Well, I'm a genius! I use logic and reality!

It would appear someone has reverse engineered my technology...
No matter, it is a big universe, and Ideas are bound to come to two different people, even if they have never met or seen the other's work.

seriously though this is neat and it's kinda depressing b/c I thought I came up with the idea and then I saw that this was posted well before I had the idea.

"Oh, forgive my intrusion into your area of expertise! I shall henceforth attempt to create that Ionic screwdriver I have been thinking about for some time....now where did I put that ionic generator?"

Ive been playing the Engineer for a very long time. And Plasma screwdrivers just seemed like a cool idea! Now Ionic....that would be interesting....

it is a cool idea!!!! how does yours work? Mine is like an industrial tool, using the plasma to cut, weld, drill, etc.
Ionic, that sounds neat, what would it emit electric arcs?

Mine works by creating a plasma field that is manipulated for variable effects. While cutting and welding are a function, the plasma field is more 'solid' then a sonic field is, so its uses are nearly limitless.
and yes, an Ionic screwdriver would indeed emit electric arcs... hmmm......more research should be put into this fascinating power source.

that's how mine works XD My time lord used a very unconventional, Very shameful, and highly unpopular way to power it. However it did allow for limitless power...at the cost of two of his regenerations.

Thanks! I was actually thinking of a tuning fork when I designed it!

AWESOME!!! hey could i use this as the Screwdriver of my time lord The Searcher? In the far future the Engineer might die of extreme old age, or he might lose it then the searcher would find it, then later the searcher would have it taken of him my the ghost of the engineer and it is then lost for eternity. well thats my idea anyway

Actually the Engineer's death and rebirth is already written.... as for the plasma screwdriver... hes had eight... he keeps misplacing them because he is a bit... absent-minded. So you could easily find one sitting in a desk somewhere...lol

Thank you! I love playing the Engineer. He was banished through time, and eventually turned up in our history as Nicholai Tesla.... one of the greatest inventors of his age...unfortunatly, just like when he was The Engineer, he was good with technology, not so good with people. His inventions were taken by others, and he was left with little or nothing. And that was before he became Tesla! Rasilon and Omega took credit for his inventions. If you look up the Dr. Who Wiki, I got the inspiration for The Engineer from the individual called The Other.

After doing alot of research into Nicholai Tesla's life, and doing some research into the 'other' from Dr. Who, it seems that Rassilon and Omega took advantage of the "Other's research into time travel and time manipulation...just like Edison and other inventors took credit for alot of Tesla's inventions. Which makes my Engineer a great character to play.... great with machines, terrible with business.
