She spooked me when I saw her in the anime for the first time when I was a kid.
Actually I was more spooked by the doll she was holding rather than her.

Yeah, she was downright terrifying in the anime. She friggin' tortured her apprentices if she disagreed with what they said and transformed people into goddamn dolls if they lost to her. What. The. Fuck. I've never understood how on earth she managed to become a legit Gym Leader in the first place. I can only assume that she brainwashed or threatened someone in the Indigo League to agree with whatever she said. She was a real witch. Her game counterpart was much less of a psychopath.

Not really fond of her in the originals since she's so appalingly evil back then. It doesn't help that Psychic-types are broken in Gen 1, adding extra points to her menacing-ness. At least her redesign and some of her dialogues in B2W2 fixed that.
