Is the green back yet then? Looks lovely, like here in England in fact

No, not quite, this is a shot I found from last Spring...we have just begun cooling down for autumn and while I'm told we occationally get rain in the beginning of October it usually dosn't really start the heavy stuff until later, maybe the beginning of November...(I say "I'm told" because this is only my second October here in Northern California - we moved up 470 miles from southern Cali about a year and a half ago...and I realllly don't know the patterns up here!)

It really is a beautiful green and we're low enough in elevation it stays green and doesn't get all snow killed!

LOL, and we were about 200 miles from the mexican boarder down there and are still several hundred miles from the northern boarder with Oregon up here... the length is 770 miles/1239 km (north/south) and 270 miles/402 km(east/west) wide...it is a biiiigg state!

we also moved from the coast down south to the foothills near the Sierra Nevada mountains inland...big changes!

Indeed! All the oaks are still green but the grasses and everything on the ground is dry...we don't even have any patch of lawn for my poor bare toes to wiggle in...

while clearing files I came across this and it was like a long visual drink of something cool

i feel so sorry for my dogs: because of the water restrictions people aren't really watering the little street lawns anymore (where my dogs go potty). and the grass is so dry you can actually hear it crack when you walk on it, and it hella hurts my dogs little feet

aww, poor little feet! We're on a well up here, so we're not on any restrictions just none planted...I may need to go find a city park and run around barefoot - my toes are in such withdrawl!

thanks!

I don't know for sure but I think they are wild vetch - they're very similar to sweetpeas but with a smaller flower...I do know they are some pea relative...we had them in different shades of purple and even yellow a block or so away

Ooo must be real pretty! I've never heard of them, but, I wish they grew around here

Green!!!... I sympathize with you.
Some of the trees here are still green, but the rest is brown, brown, brown. My amaryllis flowers have come up pink, and there are a few stray mustard and yellow thistles, but that is all. Oh, and the pokeberry... I'm glad I didn't cut it down when the walnut fell and knocked it over... it is practically all the entertainment the birds have this year... the pears are not setting on, and the apples are not ripe yet. Not fun.

:iconladyofOz: and just sent me some Naked Lady bulbs in exchange for wildflower seeds from this spring...since they got disrupted in the blooming cycle I've only gotten one stalk, but I thought you'd smile to know I've got Ladies in my front yard

The lavender is still blooming some, and the roses have the occational flower...but everything else is just bush...my feet are in green lawn withdrawl - I think maybe this weekend we'll go find a city park and run around barefoot

I know - and I complained about the brown hills down in southern California too, it's just we don't have any lawn up here and my bare toes are tired of the dry stubble outside the garden and the gravel or bark inside the garden
