I understand that envy but think of us in June through October when all of this is brown and dry and we're worrying about fires...

yeah March and early April is the time for them here at 1400 feet These are about half a block away on the gravel road to our house...we were concerned that there wouldn't be as many because a bunch of pine trees were cut down last summer which meant the shade ratio was changed - but there are more this year than previously so guess the tree thinning was a good thing!!

I know up in the meadows of Tuolumne, 8500', they thrive in the sunshine. I'll hopefully take some pics and do some paintings when I go there in a few monts.

they are such intricate flowers glad they are on a hill so I could shoot up into them
