Description Hello!
By now some of you know that when I’m bored, I make tutorials! lol

Here’s how to make some Fancy platters the “easy” way!

STEP #1
You will need:
-Rubber stamps (I bought these two at the one dollar store because they were not expensive and I liked the pattern).
-A round cookie cutter (or any other thing that can make a round shape, just make sure you use it ONLY for your Polymer Clay projects and not for food).
-A small plant dish (I’m not sure it’s called that in English). It is important that this dish and the cutter be the same diameter.
-A rolling pin
-And some silver or golden (or whatever color you like) polymer clay, For this project I used Sculpey III.
-Some baking soda or baking power (or even baby powder).
-An old paintbrush (you’ll understand why on the next step).

STEP #2
With the old paintbrush, spread some baking soda (or any other powder you have) onto your work surface, then roll your clay until it is thin enough to your liking (the thinner it is, the tougher it is to work with but more realistic).

Once the clay has been rolled evenly, put some baking soda/powder onto it. You really don’t want anything to stick, believe me!

STEP #3
Chose a rubber stamp, spread some baking soda/powder onto it and put the stamp on the clay you rolled on STEP #2. Make sure you press it evenly everywhere. The rolling pin helps making sure the pressure is the same everywhere.

STEP #4
Use the round cutter and make sure the pattern from the stamp it centered. Then press onto the cutter to…well, cut into the clay.

STEP #5
Carefully remove the cut clay from your work surface. This is why I had you use the baking soda/or powder, so it doesn’t stick onto neither your work surface nor the stamp.

With the paintbrush, you can easily brush off the baking soda from the clay.

STEP #6
Take the plant dish and gentle mold the clay circle into it without messing with the pattern left by the rubber stamp.

Now you can put it in the oven. I did not have any problem with the dish in the oven. Make sure you respect the time and temperature from the polymer clay brand you use. For Sculpey it is 15 minutes at 275F.

STEP #7
Once it is out of the oven, wait a few minutes but not too long, the platter will be much easier to remove from the dish while it is still warm. Use gloves if you have to, as not to burn yourself! Gently pry the platter from the dish and you can see the result on the picture.

I hope you will find this new tutorial of mine useful. Please, send me your comments, they are always appreciated.

Thank you so much for posting this. This is most helpful. u_u my dollar stores don't carry things such as stamps, bummer. But I will try this anyway when I get a stamp or something with a desirable pattern.

You're welcome!

Buttons can be use also, they can be more affordable than some stamps sold in art supply stores and some have really nice patterns. Or search into the toys aisle, sometimes they have stamps less expensive but still cute. But some stamps aren't that expensive, in the Scrapbook aisle.
