Go to page 1: [link]This is the real cover for the first issue. The promo cover was used for prints and proofs. I think we did a good job on that too, but it wasn't what I wanted for the actual book. this is more like what i envisioned, and did a perfect job capturing my idea with this wonderful BG. So big props to her!
As always, colors mangled when saving for web. The print colors are perfect!

Yeah, I would to fully agree. This one is SO much better. What I like most about this is the detail you put into Swift's eye. You really made it one of the center pieces of the pic. I really like the lines you drew inside the eye; it makes Swiftkill look real intense. And from there, you just sort of expanded outwards. I also find it interesting how you only draw half of her face, which then blends perfectly into Esda's background-which I will be sure to drop her a note on her participation on this cover. Over all, a very interesting and deep cover for the first issue.

In the lieu of countless mediocre comics it pleases me to finally see one with a professional charisma. I can only imagine how long it took to render this in such meticulous detail. Everything from the characters expressions, perspectives, stances, motions, etc are well captured and I can find little fault with them. Granted, complete flawlessness is impossible but to make the point clear, I, not being an artist, could offer little you little critique about βhow this should be that and the suchβ in terms of drawing. Especially whenβat this level of skillβit would also be impossible. Besides, what I really love are plotlines and so far yourβs is pretty goodβstraightforward, to the point, not lackingβ¦ I usually wait until one would complete their masterpiece to write a better, βmore accurateβ review but seeing as you have put so much work into this already I thought I would comment early.
I especially enjoyed how you didnβt dwindle in the beginning. It was straight to the action, the problem, and what was at stake. Yet you maintained a good pace to it, not rushing and not lagging too much in either direction. The panel scripting flows nicely and the angles you choose to βnarrateβ from are quite attention grabbing. Now then, as for the storyline itself, I wonβt lie that the first thing I thought about after a few pages was a cross between the 2nd lion king movie and watership down, but Iβm not going to compare anything to anything. There is no merit in accusing someone with an original idea that it just βhappensβ (as with the infinite clichΓ©s in the world) to seemingly coincide with an already published creation. That as much is stupid, and would be inaccurate. There are many things here that are of themselves and that originality only.
Rather, to base the storyline against itself, your own art, choice of dialogue, and the flow, mood, etc, would be much better.
And I am pleased to say that yourβs fits together well. The characters (whom there are manyβit is a pleasing thing to see such rare variety) are full of many flavors and personalities and it reflects well in their actions. (It is too early for me to make any deeper judgments about them) They are well thought out and do cause a lot of depth in their interactions. To bring a believable story to life is a difficult thing and you certainly accomplished this.
Moving on, I must say the backgrounds amidst the characters are extremely well done. And this is in JPEG! Weather that is a joint effort or not I am merely commenting on the amount of commitment. Of which to say there is a huge amount of. To see that your only getting started in the way of what will transpire in spite of doing so much already more then enough shows how dedicated you are to the project and to how solid you wish it to be.
I look forward to seeing the project to completion, so far the continuity looks good and I leave you with my thanks for sharing your talent.
