uhm.....i spent around 4 days straight painting this..or more? who knows. That's all i've been doing for the past I dunno how many days, haha, I have no life
.uhh...well, basically I (1) want to paint something Asian (2) am trying to not be afraid of colours
. THis is perhaps the most saturated pic i've made. ehh. I almost cried at the embroideries!!! It's so frustrating!I don't know how many of you are going to say "ooh this is like Louis with an Asian Claudia" etc. etc., well the truth is that I really really like the young girl + grown man motif that is most commonly represented/known by the Claudia+Louis relationship. heh

Beautiful! The colors are very rich, and that shawl/blanket over the little girl is radiant. It looks like you could reach out and touch it.

This is beautiful, but the little girl does look a bit like a doll.

oh no, I mean no offense, it's just that every time I paint a guy and a little girl, people will likely compare it to Louis and Claudia, as in the two vampires in Anne Rice's novel 'Interview with the Vampire', but most of the time this is not intentional.

wow, the first thing that immidiatly caught my eye is the patterns on the fabric, im thinking... "she painted all those little details herself?" well of course she did and it's amazing! I especially love the bird near the bottom.
Overall, the colors are spectacular, the bright warm reds and yellows really seem to glow, and the shading looks so real. Really, some parts of this look photo-realistic, but i like how the characters are less real, to balance it out. Excelent stuff, i can only kiss your ass now.
(excuse me while i go cry in envy of your skills... or maybe i should just go practice some more instead)

aw, thanks Steph for your lengthy-ish comments! I was going to note you this but dA is being a bitch(or is it my internet connection? I think it's my internet connection!!!!!!) but then again I'm like, what the heck it's nothing to hide. Well, what I did with the embroideries is that I scribbled/painted one part, copy paste it, flip it etc. and then paint again. If you look closely you'll see a few repetitions here and there, but hey it saves time

the part i found realistic is the folds in the fabric, so the draperie in general...
I would think it's OK to copy/paste and flip around the embroiderie, it's most often machine-done in real life anyways, you dont expect an artisan to stitch every single flower... No shame there.

hehhe. Oz approves of the colors. I always knew you weren't afraid of colors you just chose not to use saturated ones. I was thinking well the claudia louis relationship is pretty innocent so i wont say anything... not that i know of. So the art machine chugs on! lol.. Unfortuantely i need to get all my art projects done first. I'm working on a magazine cover I was thinking of featuring your work.

oh, positively beautiful. I know being inspired by gothic culture can make it hard to use a lot of color but recently I've just been using way too much. Perhaps I am betraying it now...anyway you did a great job with the color. And that guy is just beautiful *_*

This is really marvelous! The designs in the clothing and sheets, you painted yourself? the skin is very good too! thought the girl doesn't seem as affected by the lighting as the man. The mood is perfect, and I'm lovin those lamps.
