Description
Not always are things as they seem...What happens when the soul of good is born into a creature of evil? ... Is it torn between? ... or is it acceptance of both? ...
Maybe it's pure evil or pure good ... Maybe it is neither...
About 20 hours work, maybe a lil more (I'm horrible to keep track of hours put into paintings, lol)
No reference used on the wings, can kind of tell I'm still learning with them, but I'm happy with the outcome of them.
'n that is lava falls in the background... Meant to seem as though the ledge she is on isn't far above a lava flow as well...
Originally was drawn as a random Nightmare, I think I'm going to use it as a character

That horse is just fabulous! I especially love the face and the details in it. The wings are kind of strange, the feathers are stacked more like scales than actual feathers. From the side of the wing, you wouldn't see four rows along the edge like that. The shape of the wings looks pretty accurate, though. Honestly, though, this is a fabulous piece!

haha, yeah, it was odd for me to get used to also.. it's so basic though, it's handy for checking weather, looking up phone numbers or addresses for businesses, or pulling up google maps for directions etc... it's not too bad to check my email on, n I'll keep up with my Facebook on it, but other than that it's pretty boring, haha..

This is gorgeous. I love the combination of good and evil in such a majestic creature. The eyes are particularly amazing, as well as the detail of the flames. The wings look fabulous. Wonderful job!

The image came together even better than I had hoped! I'm happy the concept worked! I was quite excited to see what it would look like finished... Those flames were the most tedious part, about 10 hours in the flames alone 
Lighting was interesting to figure out too

I cannot believe that you had the patience to spend so much time on the flames alone! Well, that's the mark of a great artist. The flames look AMAZING. Then the trial and error with the wings... did you pull all of your hair out? LOL Honestly, this is a fabulous artwork. It may have taken some time, but (coming from the point of view of someone who did NOT spend all that time on the picture

Kay, you've seriously blown me out of the freaking water with this one babe. Everything is so perfect. SO, so perfect. I love how you can clearly see the theme with the stream of pale light filtering through the dismal gray areas, and then how it shines onto the red horse that signifies an evil being is fantastic. I also love how those falls look; they aren't so bright they take away attention from the subject.
As for the horse's coat, it's so shiny and glossy and textured and very realistic, I love it! And finally, babe, that fire is incredible!! teach me how! haha!

I was happy the light coming through and the eyes really made the impact I was looking for.. bringing in a significant amount of both elements to the image without looking like I tried too hard to fit both good and evil into the image.
I was so worried about how to get the lava into the image without it taking away from the Nightmare itself.. I worked a lot with the same colors n originally was going to have a lot more lava but it just flattened the image, you never noticed the Nightmare from the background... finally this one came about and I liked the outcome! Giving the look I was looking for without taking away from the Nightmare...
The Nightmares coat was pretty easy to do, I just had to keep my light sources figured out, haha... 'n the fire was tedious!! That took me like 10 hours to finish up x.x
