Description ok ok ok, i know what your thinking "it can't e the same, they aren't even from the same creators" "they don't look the same" , and other similar things. but just hear me out so in the movie astro boy the blue core energy is explained to be the fragments of a star and was also found with red core energy.

and in ninjago pixal describes it as a technology she is unfamiliar with which would make sense, seeing how most of the universe is unexplored and there might be some things out there we don't even know about!

however there are a lot of similarities
pulses with a bluish glow, in both astroboy and ninjago, both zane and toby continue to eat and sleep, even after discovering what they were, maybe the energy source is almost living? well not like breathing living but more like living like megg'an's ship does in young justice

and i know what you are thinking now oh but we haven't seen any red core energy in ninjago and they look diferent

i can explain this too. dr. eliphun explains that both cores were energy from a star. however he also said they extracted it,which could mean that the cores only became different when they concentrated it into separate forms forming highly condensed energy. i think that the reason zanes looks different, is because maybe instead of concentrating it, it was already there in side the star, in a smaller dose, so  dr.  julian sculpted it (like you know melting metal and putting it into a mold) to fit his requirements , and that maybe as the star fragments fell, the red energy god separated when it made impact and he just didn't see it.....
ok i know that there are some big flaws in my theory and if anyone has any questions please comment IN A NICE way or they will not be answered

UPDATE!
ok also, what if the first elemental master of ice didnt have any succsesors, so he stored his power in something(zanes power source) so that the power wouldnt disapear forever? then maybe he hid it and it wasnt found for a while or something?

A wise idea, and similar to mine. I've already proposed the theory that Zane's body may contain biological Cybertronian physical traits; as well as mental traits. Basically, he would not be of all earthly origin; relating to what we call "the Transformers".

His bodily mechanics mainly focus on an eerie, blue power source much like Astro's which was of a composed star. Energon, a Cybertronian's life blood and fuel happens to have that distinct color and pulse both in crystalized and liquid form- as well as coming from a planet's crystalized veins.

Zane's power source also possibly provides his emotion and personality, as a spark provides for an autobot or a decepticon.

As his power source is also shielded in the same fashion that a Cybertronian's is with several plates of metal, I believe this comes to say that he has both a spark and a spark chamber.

We all know that he has felt physical pain before; thus, indicating the possible existence of a Neural Circuitry Interface. It is basically a Cybertronian nervous system of embedded metal chords as well as specific plates being vulnerable to pain, counting the spark chamber [which you saw Zane flinching as Nya had scratched it with tweezers while removing half of his core].

I would expect that he would run on energon, which lasts far longer than any human resource of energy. With a body that small, a large amount of energon could supply one tiny body for a tedious amount of time.

I could go on about the wisdom of the Primes and the Iocon database key involving the passing of the name of Prime to one another and of how Zane relates to it, but it would be far too difficult to explain and boring to read.

It's alright, in fact- most Transformers fans probably wouldn't understand most of what I just said. You have a reasonable theory too, as both possible power sources appear to last an excessively long amount of time.

I have a head canon about Zane's power source. It's really long and slightly confusing, and has a lot to do with the Sensei's and Misako's past, and Dr Julien finding something that he wasn't supposed to find, blah blah blah. Yeah, really long and confusing.

Okay, here's goes the LONG headcanon.
Includes Lodella Garmadon, Lavander Nihn, and Aster Julien, all three OC's of mine.

When Garmadon barely got bitten by the Great Devourer, he was still good, right? Sort of.
Well, he found a cave and went inside. There was a dragon and he backed into the cave wall and accidentally fell down a hole. Down the hole, he opened his eyes and found himself staring at a glowing green wall. He named the stone 'Tomorrow's Lodestone.'
Later, he led Wu and Misako to the cave. Wu almost made the dragon find them but it didn't. Garmadon offered each a piece of Lodestone, and Misako took it. Wu did not.

I have another headcanon about how Misako named Lloyd and Lodella after it, but that's another headcanon story. It's also the cave where the Sensei Wu got the dragon guardians.

Many years later, while Lord Garmadon ruled the Underworld, Misako went back to get more Lodestone for something. When she left, she saw Dr. Julien standing outside of the cave, and ran off stealthily. She shifted some rocks, and Dr. Julien heard them.
He went into the cave. Luckily, the dragon had left the cave. He fell down the exact same hole and found the Lodestone caves. He was about to take a piece when Lavander found him.
She told him to be careful with the Lodestone, making sure that he used no more then what was needed. She was reluctant to let him have it, but let him take a piece.
He heated that piece up to a very high degree using Torchfire Mountain as his furnace. After he heated it enough, it solidified back into a glowing blue stone instead of a sparkly and glowing green stone.
He used that stone to power Zane. He had just enough to use the rest for the falcon.
Later he got back in there so he could create Aster. Well, technically Samukai got in there for him. Aster was created on Dr. Julien's special Island.

Yeah! That's the end of the headcanon! It could've been longer, but I didn't want to get too much into the details.
