"Moontripper" is the perfect example of K.D. Matheson's work; the shower-down of light on the subjects, the intense sculptural detail of EVERYTHING (more like a "snapshot" of a physical sculptural piece), the multiple layers for the viewer to swim through, and the deep-dream quality of the mutated, fluid, godly figures and creatures, all of which, here, appear to be in the party-throes of a cosmic noise that over-powers all sense of reason, and pumps up the production level of all-things sensual. You must appreciate the artist's dedication to filling your senses until your eyeballs ache, and the investment in sheer sweat, with the incredible SIZE of this work; this is meant to hold your attention for ransom, and if you escape, you will find yourself wandering back. Give in, become like the Moontripper, eyes nearly closed (but still s e e i n g ), cosmic headphones on, absorbing... A Masterwork, if I'm allowed to make such determinations (and I may not be worthy to do so).
