The basic premise:
With robots, others expect the best of them, to be perfect and to do whatever they're told perfectly. But would you trust a robot that has a worrisome default about them that could potentially kill you?
Someone from the Factory dimension mentioned Medic being a quote un-quote"Lemon"; that her magnetic pulse protector was 45% weaker than the average nurse-bot, and this protector failed to protect her artificial brain from a shock wave of a geomagnetic storm, causing her judgement program in her brain to short circuit, causing her to have a rampage at the hospital she used to work for. One doctor died while shutting her down.
This little fluke is personal to Medic, after she was re-activated several years later, she had to find somewhere else to work. When she informs her employers about her little default, they send her packing, not wanting to take the risk of a riot.
She might not like working for the Smithy Gang, but she needs that job, she lost so many others it's making her more and more bitter, and does not want to feel like garbage. (No robot would want to feel like that.)
And who comes to comfort the nurse in her time of self-pitty? None other than Yari of course.

This is just as sappy as a maple tree, but I'm not complaining. I'm a sap for sappiness.
