The markings on his face were originally tar, seared onto the stallions face. The circles on the cheek are the markings. I realized that if I wanted to make it look more like tar, and less like a black marking, I had to give it some depth. Unfortunately... I'm really lacking in the artist ability to create a tar-like marking. This was a first, rushed attempt. Hopefully with more time and some practice, I'll get it looking a lot better.
