Description Doodle of tragic tragic tragic Talyk, beheaded then had a cursed skull reattached due to his political affiliation and popularity. Well, no one likes beasts as their heads (HA.). In the process, he is made mute (no mouth) and is slowly but inevitably starving to death (cursed skull thing sort of keeps him alive magically) In my headworld, Talyk's punishment was an unjust one and entails hints of McCarthyism (a tidbit I learnt from school and thought would be fitting for this pitiful character). His home region's demography mainly consists of humans, with minority groups of sentient but mysterious species in the more rural, unexplored areas of the country. Regardless, the surrounding tribes of undocumented species has led to hysteria amongst the uneducated (there is cause for concern of course, crops and livestock dying etc. Not the work of these tribe critters, something else more linked to Kech's abilities that I've yet to flesh out in entirety) In response, governors crack down on the beast "cursed" populance, demagogues attaining great political power whilst fanning pitiable commonfolk's anxieties. Confession meant that you were repentant (either the beasts had not influenced you entirely meaning you could still be cured or that you) and rejection meant you were fully cursed or a hidden beast. Unfortunately, Talyk was a stubborn one, and practically exhaled his dissent and disapproval, enlightening several of his admirers (he was one of the few educated!A medical doctor rejecting the superficial diagnosis of curse symptoms) and cementing their beliefs that such trials are unfair (not the prejudice against beasts though, because they'd had little to no evidence yet of their true behaviour) To prevent the creation of a martyr and release of a opposition leader, the existing leaders cursed him to a partial beastial form, muted and immediately excluded from human society despite his prior social status. By becoming the prejudiced monster (himself included because he was a product of his environment and biased education), in comes the internalised racism and self-loathing and isolation. Secluding himself with reading, researching and writing, Talyk becomes renown to be an extremely knowledgeable but terrifying figure to confront. But rumours of his medical prowess reaches those out of the country's borders, which lead to Kech's arrival and subsequent feelings of displeasure towards the racism and manipulation running rampant within the country. Talyk's smart, but has the sensitivity of a rock. Luckily he can't sass anymore. Sign language can still be colourful though.

Kech teaches him, he teaches her and they wind up being good friends. Talyk's cave now harbours a wanted girl, a deposed general and a wild dog from time to time.

Talyk's story is like a mix of Crucible and Loki from the MCU.
Have a nice day!
