Yes, it does.Β You'd have to do lots of scenes or even wholeΒ comics with a character to establish their personality and explain how & why they do something -- an idea I completely endorse, by the way -- while these references provide a quick version.Β It's especially useful for a character that doesn't get much 'screen' time; then when they do appear we can understand their actions more easily.
