Description

A brushtail possum takes a quick look around, after having nabbed one of New Zealand's endemic geckos for lunch.

An origin prompt for Po (3245) ... I recently came to terms with the fact that I don't enjoy working with human original forms, so I'm reworking Po's backstory. Luckily most of it has only been hinted at or vaguely talked about on Discord, so there's not a lot of official retconning to do, haha.

Thank you to those of you who offered advice and reassurance as I made these story changes to my esk!

And thanks to James Gurney for his post on The Windmill Principle , which I thought about a lot during the process. I kind of approached this differently and used a new brush I had recently downloaded that had a chalky, grizzled appearance, which felt fitting for the possum's fur texture. Normally I try to add a little more refining details but I wanted to sit with a slightly less polished painting style a bit, and practice having more edges that were intentionally blurred out rather than trying to sharpen them like I would normally do. It's an interesting effect.
