This is AWESOME! Your style is great and the colors really add to the mood. The eyes and nose are my favorite!
You offered to take critique and I love giving critique, as it really helps me, too! So if you don't mind, I red-lined some areas I had feedback on.
There was no critique on the colors but I had some feedback for the outer lines. (The redline is here:Β fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/201β¦ )
The red lines are lines I created--the green lines are lines that already existed, whose shape I thought would be beneficial to change a bit. Like, the inside of the ear you have a line there to show the inner ear. The line itself is irregular and doesn't follow a pattern, so it looks out of place or "off". Same with the top of the earring, I believe it is, where the line is green. Also because the lines ended up "banding" together where the hair met the earring, so I moved those lines over just a tad. The same with the middle of the hair--the outline ended up creating a "cluster" and banding, so I moved those over a smidge so the banding didn't happen.
Other than those tid bits with the lines, I don't have any other critique. It looks fabulous!

I feel like it looks hideous, simply because Maud doesn't fit in such a small frame xD

Hmm, I can see what you mean by details. Personally I don't really like how she seems to get cut off by the box--it gives me the impression that she has a really thick neck.
I can see what you mean by it seeming too busy though, but without the backgrounds the sparkles wouldn't be as noticeable! --thinky face--
And random suggestion--perhaps rounded corners for the square? That way it seems less "paper cut out" of Maud, and more icon like?
I might have to think about this more, but I have class! See you in a few hours ma'am--sorry! >_>; --runs away--
