Beautiful!!! One of the best depictions of the Disney version of Eilonwy I've seen. She looks much better than the movie version even.
I'm a big fan of the books, the movie ain't half bad but the books are definitely way better.

Great illustration, although I soooo disagree with Disney's vision of Eilonwy and the book (which is fab by the way) on the whole.

the linework in illustrator, were you using the brush tool or did you use pencil?

The reason I did the lines in Illustrator was because I wanted to test the live trace feature. I used it on the pencil art of the sketch one. Then used the pentool to try to fix it up (Live trace is really for pen lines and not pencil)
My problem was with the pen tool. The pen tool works a bit different then in photoshop. I'd kept wanting to take one point but it would grab all. It took me a while to figure out how to grab one point. The pencil tool wasn't bad but her skirt lines were too long for it. Plus I kept grabbing things I didn't want to grab or change.

Black Cauldron is one of my favorites. The books are good too, if you havent read them.

All I've read them, let's say I was very very sick *fakecoughfakecough* and couldn't go back to school till I finished them all.
I also wrote a paper on the importance of the movie the Black Cauldron was for Disney. I got an A, man I loved Animation History Class.

Its sad. I loved the movie. I'm a sucker for cute characters (ie. Gurgi) I though it was because it was the first PG movie Disney did?? Hm?
