Description
Hey! Sorry if I'm inactive and all, but I haven't really been given the liberty to do anything of interest. (well, at least nothing unrelated to academics)I'm working on my AP art portfolio some more this year, and I'll be illustrating various pieces for my concentration. I call it the Stranger series: a compilation of surrealistic portraits that involves the study of human anatomy, emotion and different elements.
I'll try to update with stuff when I can ahaha.
This is the first that I call "Absence"in the set.
"Sometimes the moment appears fleeting and evanescent, and everything begins to erode away in front of you like nothing existed."
Graphite medium. 2B Mechanical Pencil.
16in. x 20in. Bristol Board.
Approx 58 hours

Very creative and love the detail. Really allows the viewer to get caught looking for a while which is what I always picture art doing. Drawing the viewer in for an extended amount of time. Great job here and can't wait to see more

This is really impressive! I'm pretty mind blown right now. You came up with it all on your own and how it transition looks amazing! You've gotten really good at realism and you've demostrated some pretty amazing anatomy right here! I love how you did the wisps and smoke, I wouldn't even know where to begin XD.
Good luck on your portfolio! But I doubt you'll need it, this is amazing! I'm still pretty speechless.

This is intense. Whether or not there's anything purposefully symbolic in this piece, it stands on its own.
Something elemental; something deranged; something beautiful.

Dear lord, this looks so real! It took me a minute to realize that this wasn't a photo-manipulation.
Wonderful job.

It's rare to see so many details on a single drawing. Everything is perfect here : the hair ! The facial expression ! The skull ! The smoke...
I sometimes spend 10 or 15 hours approximately on the same drawing... But that all. 58 hours, I must applause your patience, you really are passionate about what you are doing. I'm glad I encountered this on the front page of dA !
Now about the interpretation of this, well, I suck at that. I mostly appreciate the technique, the composition, etc...

I envy your skill. This is exceptional pencil work, extremely clean and intangible smoke meshing seamlessly with the photo realism of the face.
