Even if TitanFall's lore was poorly developped, for the few they showed it would have been epic in a fully storylined anime or maybe just with short movies like they did with Halo

Gundams look more like big toys than robots actually, which is why I've never been a fan of the franchise
Also, Titans have plasma railguns and electric arc cannons, I don't think they should be jealous about lazers.

Maybe good for smaller Titans, but against larger Titans, it'd need some help.

In melee yeah, titans are still a great danger. However in range with 2 bullets in the knees and one in the neck with 40mm rounds and I'm pretty sure they are out

Against the more common variety of Titans (I think around 10-15 metres), Mech Titans would have a good advantage, being quick, and powerful. Most Titans also tend to be actually rather slow, so a few rockets to the legs and then emptying rounds into the back of the neck, then Titans would be helpful to those people with the flying gear.
