Description
A lot of people seemed to like my previous post of a Summer Tanager, so I thought I'd follow up with another pic. I think this is a different bird, since he doesn't have the beak problems that the other did. I noticed that, with Western Tanagers at least, a few males would show up ahead of the migrating flock. Maybe there's a whole flock of these guys on their way! It would be fun to have the trees full of these guys!Related content

Thank you. I read up on them a bit...they are more common in the South Eastern US. Perhaps with the weather getting weird they are scouting new territory...this one seems to have staked a claim on my yard...hope he sticks around all Summer!

It would be awesome to see more captures of him from you! I love birds and even love Bird watching movies. I just found that "The Big Year" which I saw when it came out, is on Amazon and also Netflix. I will have to watch it again. Hard to believe that movie came out in 2011.
My pleasure, Keith!

It is a great movie! Jack Black, John Cleese, Steve Martin, Brian Dennehy, JoBeth Williams, Dianne Wiest! I think you would like it.
Here is the storyline:
In birding, a Big Year is seeing or hearing as many different species of birds as possible in a calendar year. Three men pursue the Birder of the Year title: Kenny Bostick, who's seen a record 732 in a past big year, Stu Preissler, newly retired, and Brad Harris, who narrates the story. Life gets in the way: Bostick's wife wants a baby, Stu's firm needs him for sensitive negotiations, and Brad, divorced and underemployed at 36, has an encouraging mom and a disapproving dad. They criss-cross the continent (including a trip to Alaska's westernmost island), follow migration patterns, and head for storms that force birds to ground. Who will win, at what cost, and with what rewards?
Here is the trailer from youtube. If you watch it you will have to tell my your favorite part and then I will tell you mine.
