I'm really impressed by the feeling this drawing gives! Awesome work! I'm very worried about the rapidly declining lion population and this drawing seems to depict the worrisome situation very well! I'm only wondering, is the skeleton supposed to be falling apart, as in the lion is melting with the space? Because the somewhat hanging position of the pelvis and the high number (more than 7) lumbar vertebrae confuses me a bit
However, the DD is totally deserved and I have to fav this wonderful work!

The skeleton was kind of meant to be falling apart, yeah. I just wanted to give off this feeling of disintegration. I thought that if I lowered the pelvis , the lion would look more vulnerable, but that sort of threw off the leg positions so I raised them and...yeah. The whole thing became a bit jumbled, haha.
Stupidly enough, I tried doing the skeleton from memory, which was a mistake because my mind instantly goes back to these bird skeletons I drew. This is probably why the vertabrae are so small and squished in. Definetly shouldve researched that, my teacher would slap me if he saw it, haha.
Im happy you still like it though, and I had no idea this picture would become as popular as it is. Especially being so bloody old!

Well, that makes sense to me! I was just not sure, but seeing the fading tail I already had the feeling that the skeleton was supposed to fall a bit apart- I just wanted to ask that ^^. It actually gives a nice effect in combination with the fading tail. But yeah I also know how difficult it is to draw the vertebrae correct...I know it are 7 lumbar vertebrae, but I often end up with 6 or 8 when I draw a skeleton..just because I got confused by the difficult shape.
Anyway it seems taht even old work can be of good quality

Hehe you're welcome! I think critique is no problem as long as it's said in the right way and when it can help the artist or explains confusion by the watcher XD I like it also to receive good suggestions and not thinkgs like: your art sucks and such...that doesn't help my technique ^^
But seriously - I'm just impressed by the idea and technique in this drawing!
