Description An old render I did last year of my version of one of Balto's pups, Saba. I submitted this first on the Balto Source site, but then my old computer crashed (deleting all my work) so I had to get these of that site so I could submit them here. I'll have more info on (my version of) Saba up someday!

Yes! Finally someone who thinks Saba is a boy other than me!

Where did Saba ever appear in the movie or such because I am confused. Who's Saba and Dakota?

They are two oof the pups in the poorly made Balto sequel 'Wolf Quest'. Apperantly two pups had names besides Aleu, but they never specified what ones they were, so this was my take on who they were.

Great work! Your take on Saba is awesome- she looks like the determined leader/stalwart heroine type of gal

In my unwriten story, Saba starts out as a timid sort of girl, but when she's forced to be on a sled team, she learns to become confidant and eventually she becomes a lead dog. You basicly pegged her character right on in your assumption!

Thanks for the !

Really? Cool

I mean, just looking at her, Saba has the look of a strong female protagonist- I'd really love to read that story if you ever write it down and post it

No problem!

That story is probably not going to be written in a long time, if ever, unfortunatly. Inspiration for anything Balto related has been really low lately-- most of these 'new' Balto related pics I've just submitted are older renders. *groans*

Ah, that's a shame- y'know, if you ever need help writing one sometime, I'd be more than happy to lend a helping hand. You're right, though- if there was only some way to kick the Balo influence up a notch

Other than that, this is still a great render- your Saba's cool

As long as my Saba is different than the others out there, I'm happy.

And as for the inspiration... I'm not sure I'll ever get it back for Balto. I just grew out of it. *shurgs* You may write Saba's story if you wish, however. I'm not certain I would ever get to doing it myself!

Oh, she is- it's awesome to see a girl Lead-Dog lead a bunch of guys

I'd love to write a Saba story for you sometime- all I'd need would be some characer basis, any info of any of your other characters that make an appearance in her life, and just anything in general that you think I'd need.

I'd like to think of my writing style somewhere between Joss Whedon's and Diablo Cody's

She turns out to be a great leader, one that is eventually well respected by nearly everyone-- well respected because she's a strong female with authority, but is capable of handling tough situations and giving orders without sounding prissy or whiney. She is definatly not like her sister Aleu, that's for sure!

Seriously?! That would be so great if you did! I could give you some basic ideas for her character (and my version of her siblings) via note when you'd like.

Oh, yeah- well, personally, Aleu sucks as a leader and character. I would've brought some cheese if I had known there was gonna be that much "whine" outta that character

Sure- I may not work on it ASAP, but sometime in the future. I'll let you know when I get a good brainstorm for a short plot

Ugh, Aleu sucked majorly! She was flat, whiney, and spoiled. I actually enjoy the fact that they made her that way, though, since it would be odd if every single one of Balto's pups turned out perfect and well bred. With the way he treated Aleu, it was bound to happen anyway, with the onset of her 'teen' year.

I look forward to it.

Agreed! And don't get me started on the voice-actress they stuck her with. Good point, but I thought they could've made her character development a bit deeper and not just stick with the whole "emo teenaged dog" deal. If they did that, got better voice-actors/actresses, and didn't have those SONGS, the movie may have been a little better (same goes for the third one).

Cool

Aleu wasn't even 'emo', she was just a brat. As for the WQ and WOC, I still say that WQ wins the award for being the worst sequel I've seen yet.

Dabblinguy In reply to Kelev [2009-12-30 04:01:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh, well, that's even worse than emo

Yep- I mean, WOC was a little step up better than WQ, but again, they really could've done better.

Ugh, emo and goth people bother me, because they're either whiney, down, or just plain negetive.

Of course they could have, but it would have cost more money to make it better in quality.

Dabblinguy In reply to Kelev [2009-12-30 17:11:16 +0000 UTC]

True- I have to admit: Goth girls, to me, are kinda hot (the fashionable, non-whiney ones); I dated one and hung out with a group in high school

Yet, they spent (no, wasted) a huge amount of money making those stupid "Land Before Time" sequels nobody asked for
