Speaking of Maleficent, does anybody else lack much confidence in the upcoming movie? I know what they're trying to do, and they're not doing it very well.

It doesn't matter who they cast as Maleficent, if the script sucks, and it does, the movie will blow chunks.

I feel ya. I read the summary on IMDb and it implies that Maleficent yearns for peace and just...yeah, no.

The reason this thing worked with Wicked is because Wicked was smart enough to set itself mostly before the events of the Wizard of Oz, and keeping much of the action of the original offstage, to keep some ambiguity. THIS MOVIE on the other hand, will take place almost entirely DURING the events of Sleeping Beauty, discard all the good guys from that movie as useless, change things we saw happen in the movie, flat-out make things up, all just to recapture lighting in a bottle and make Maleficent into a flawless Messiah figure. Well, not messiah, I think she's setting Aurora up to be the Messianic figure, so I guess that makes Malefient John the Baptist? But I digress, this looks awful. The screenplay's been leaked since November 2012, and with each passing revelation about the film, I've grown more and more horrified to discover that screenplay is not an elaborate prank. Then look at the movie's writer and prepare to feel even sadder.
