Super excited to finally share this piece! I had the pleasure of working with on this piece for the upcoming for the Ghost in the Shell film out on March 30th!
I wanted to incorporate sci-fi elements by using these flat geometric shapes, which posed quite a challenge as it was something I had never done. I ended up having to try out a new masking technique as well as incorporating gouache into the piece, which had an awesome overall effect by the end of it all!

I love the energy provided the rectangles rising and falling (the triangles give a sense of direction), and the tension provided by the contrast of the appearance of an apparently unfinished focal figure (the white areas of the woman) which seem to provide an edginess to the piece.
You've provided a great example of a piece that would probably suffer if you "finished" the white areas of the figure!
