Another piece from my recent show The Dream! This painting, along with a few others from my show that involved painting clouds, ended up becoming a reminder for me to continue to challenge myself.

See, I’ve always wanted to paint clouds with watercolour. But it’s quite a difficult medium to even figure how to do so, or even where to start. Trying something new is uncomfortable after all, and so painting clouds was a skill I thought I’d probably never put effort to really learn as it just seemed too hard to take even the first step. But given the theme of my show, I really had no excuse not to try. But boyy oh boyyyy, figuring out a process to capturing the insanely tricky lighting of clouds and all the subtle color transitions was daaang harddd!!
Sometimes my challenges pay off, and sometimes they don't. I was lucky this time in that I managed to figure a way to paint clouds that I’m truly proud of — and that’s such a rare thing to admit as an artist! That we’re proud of something we made!

So for me personally these paintings with clouds mean just a little something extra! A pat on the back if you will, or a reminder to myself to always challenge my discomfort and try new things, cause you just never know!
