This is actually the 100th page of Ages, not counting the chapter bumpers! I guess, in honor of this momentous occasion, I'll say a few words about the comic.

Though I began posting Ages seven years ago, the concept was far older than that - probably circa 2008. It was a very simple idea: geriatric buddy road trip with a fox and rabbit. A long list of life things happened that interfered w the actual start of it, and it didn't actually end up being my first non-OCT comic (that honor goes to... MAGGOTINA PG 1 , which was conceptualized and half-drawn while I was on a military deployment). But it did, eventually, slide back to the forefront of my art queue and come into being.

This comic was essentially me feeling out a narrative in a very expansive, directionless way, motivated by the desire to TELL A STORY!! IN ALL CAPS!! With the very vague notion that 'things happen in stories,' and I had to figure out what all happened somehow. Like really wanting to bake a cake with one cup of flour, a handful of raisins and no recipe, but pulling out the mixing bowl and doing it anyway LMAO. That said, this is not an apology for the comic - the story is old and doesn't exactly reflect where I am as a writer right now, but it did subconsciously tap into some things that are very important to me. In a lot of ways it's like executing a script that was written by someone else, but that has its own kind of bizarre charm.

This page marks a point where the comic is over halfway finished, and I've got the rest of it mapped out. There's a lot I'm looking forward to drawing, and I've somehow reached the point in my life where I can work on 3 comics simultaneously w/o feeling overwhelmed, so I'm happy to bring these characters to the endpoint that I originally envisioned. Ages should wrap up production sometime this year, and posting probably early next year. From there, I'm looking forward to future projects!
