Description Would you take a look at that! Told you guys I'd be doing a Storm model some time down the line!

Felt that I was far enough along on the model that I could show it off on dA, I posted some "wip" screenshots on my discord and twitter during its progress. I still have to finish the chest plates of course, then have to have to retopo it. After that and giving him color I will rig him for animation and posing! Lots of stuff coming!

Really proud of it so far, will be great for reference until I can make poses with it. Which I will be doing a lot of once it's complete, along with a number of animations. I do intend on doing my other characters from Secret Legends, I will post their models as they are completed. If you want to see the work in progress of Storm's modelling or future models. I post them on both my discord and twitter! Links provided below.

Enjoy! Please leave your thoughts below, it's always appreciated!

AWESOME!

I like making 3D models, too.

I also use them for animations!

I salute anyone who can use Blender. I have yet to figure out how that program works. haha If you ever get bored with Blender for whatever reason, it is actually very easy to get Maya. If you are a student at college/university or high school, all you have to do is go to Autodesk's website and put where you go to (in terms of school) and you can get a 3 year license for free. Full program with all its tools. And Mudbox too along with some other fun programs.

That's basically the reason I have np interest in Maya. Blender can do mostly everything Maya can, but for free, and stays free .

I actually use maya at school and its.. ok. I'm not good with 3d
so that could just be a personal thing. But I hear that blender is
more of a professional program and your right, it stays free and
is just as good

I can reccomend an amazing 3D-modeling program, it is free to use: Sculptris. It is easy to use and result will be more succesful
You can download it here:pixologic.com/sculptris/
I use this program to modeling random headshots and busts

Kelskora In reply to Alkaras-Adventures [2017-06-20 17:53:19 +0000 UTC]

Sculptris has a much more limited use of tools, it is incapable of exact proportions and sharp ends. The program is prone to crashing and hinders the ability to do much detail.

On top of that, I cannot add bones or rig my models in sculptris therefore cannot animate.

There is really no need to use sculptris considering blender is also free and has many more tools comparable to maya.

okay, real question here, what is up with people giving dragons hair? like, what ta shit, they're (most of the time) flame breathing, hairless, scaly flying lizards, I mean, yeah, if you where going for the Chinese Dragon vibe, yeah, I guess hair would make sence, but taht is a scaly, ocidental dragon, ANYTHING THAT IS AN OCIDENTAL DRAGON, BE IT A WYVERN, A WATER SERPENT, OR EVEN A LAND DRAKE, FFS DONT GIVE IT HAIR

but lowkey realy, why do you people give ocidental-style dragons hair?

i completely agree with you. giving things that shouldn't have hair hair just makes me cringe.... might as well make a fish OC and replace its fins with fish hooks!

Because it's a fantasy Charater so being scientific doesn't matter.

Because dragons are fantasy creature and like a peotry says: The mind and thoughts are free.
Everyone can draw their dragons in a way they imagine them. There are no limits or rules.

Not everyone has their dragons as reptiles. I for one, have dragons more in the mammalian side of things. But I get where you're coming from, especially if you wanna be anatomically correct.

But as the artist says, that's a flesh crest, not hair.

Also there have been evidence of reptiles with hair/fur in the past!

x-Re-Animated-x In reply to GiovaniHydraliskCorp [2017-06-19 01:52:25 +0000 UTC]

Because its a cartoon character not an animal planet documentary.
Its fun to do, and dragons were never real to begin with that we can prove
so technically there is no "correct" way to draw them. To me what people draw
dragons looking like today is much better than the "camel headed carp snake" which was
considered a dragon.
It can add more to the character and even add a relatable aspect to it. I mean if your going to
question the hair why are you not questioning everything else? Like why they can speak English
and contort their facial muscles to form seemingly human like emotions.
(also I'm not referring to storm in this but rather any dragon oc with hair, my own included)

GiovaniHydraliskCorp In reply to x-Re-Animated-x [2017-06-19 21:36:34 +0000 UTC]

I do question "why tf can they speak any language at all" and "why the shit can they make human ish emotions"
but those I keep to myself since you dont see those 2 realy that often
but "hair" lookin things, boi, you see them almost everywhere

DragonianGirl2000 In reply to GiovaniHydraliskCorp [2017-06-19 01:51:45 +0000 UTC]

I knew that this dragon's "hair" was just a crest and all, but I think people give dragons hair to give more personality, or to make a dragon look likable. Like, for example, a crazy or energetic dragon would be given messy hair, showing the dragon's personality.
But, then again, that's just what i think. I could be very wrong, so... eh. That's my theory.

Haha no it's not hair. It's a crest made up of hard skin and scale like tissue
