I want to talk about making the Toad Scroll and the hand guards in my Prop tutorials, so I thought that it would be a good idea to upload this photo of my Jiraiya Cosplay as reference.I wonder why so many people download this photo?

The Toad Scroll
To make a Jiraiya scroll like mine, you need large sheets of silk paper (white, green, red) black paint, spray mount, green paint, rope and some Styrofoam rolls.
Go to business Depot (or any similar store), buy two foam scrolls (they are in packing material dept) and glue them together with uber-strong glue (I used Gorilla glue or Sumo Glue). Wait till they dry. Get some spray mount and fix the green silk paper on the scroll (the green sheet has to be big enough to cover the whole scroll), then the red on top of that (Smaller piece of course to get the scroll looking right), and then white (smallest piece of all). Paint black calligraphy on the white silk paper layer that is on top. Paint the foam at the ends of the scroll green. Tie the rope in appropriate place around the scroll.
Get two chopsticks or other similar-style sticks, attach the Styrofoam shapes with glue onto the sticks (I used halfΒ΄-globes, but you might want to use something else), then glue the other end of the sticks and stick them into the ends of your scroll. Paint the Styrofoam shapes (I used red). Spray a layer of matte varnish on the whole scroll to protect it.
I would recommend you attach the rope to the scroll with pins that have glue in them. Only attach one side, otherwise you wonβt be able to wear the scroll properly, as you will need to untie the other end now and then.

I live in Minneapolis, MN and I just went to office depot today and they did not have it so i will keep searching I am going to Anime Detour in early April so i have some time.

And you wanna know the best thing I found out to do with large props? I carry a crapload of stuff at cons, like cameras, art, various trinkets, props, and whatnot, so I made my Gaara gourd hollow with a top I could fasten and remove, then put pockets in it for my junk so I could stay in cosplay and not get stuck carrying even more bags of crap. XD
Nice job on the scroll, though, but the entire cosplay is made of win.

You're welcome... You're a wonderful Jiraiya. My obsession with him... well, you'd wanna avoid me at cons, unless you want the flying stranger glomp that pins you to the floor. XD
Oh my yes, you have to adore the prop as a bag trick. A lot of people forget that if they're new to cosplaying, and are in so much pain by Sunday from carrying additional bags. If I don't have a prop, I'm stuck with bags, but if I have large props, I try to stick as much as I can inside or on them.

My scroll does not open (by design) but it could be made so, though I'd have to make it our of silk paper which is very expensive.
I would just follow my instructions for your first scroll.

i really like how you made his hair fluffy instead of spiky. it looks amazing. the outfit itself is constructed well, and the colors are accurate, and the scroll has so many details it's amazing. great job!
