Description
So I've been playing with Photoshop effects lately, more specifically with fire effects. And of course Dags makes a good test subject. I just spent about an hour and a half redoing her contrails in this image, which isn't too long considering I'm not at home and don't have my tablet with me (yay for trackpad photoshopping ow my handHere is the original image: [link] ... this one had the contrails drawn and painted by hand.
Proud.

Your char looks about as awed about the stars are you might have been the first time you laid eyes on photo shop effects. His/her expression is wonderful, and I admit that while the effect and background are nice, I am drawn to that expression.

This is honestly one of the best comments I've ever gotten. Daggerwing loves space and the stars in a deep and primal way, and I was trying to convey that in her expression. It also tickles me that you couldn't tell what gender she was... she's a girl, but I like making her a little ambiguous sometimes
Thank you so much!

You're welcome. And yes, I don't have a creative bone in my body, but I am sincerely eloquent.

Definitely looks like more fluid movement this way *thumbsup*
FlamePainter's also fun to mess around with.

Neat! That turned out well.
(Thank you for the link; I can use that effect, so I'll go through the tutorial. There are several zillion things do-able in Photoshop, and no-one knows how to do all of them.)

Thanks! And no probs! I was actually surprised at how simple and versatile the effect was. I added the random streams off the contrails by using the clone stamp, and then shrinking and warping it into tiny licks of flame that I just kept copying and pasting and moving around until I was satisfied.
I kind of want to make it a point to learn a new trick in Photoshop at least once a month, if I can manage. I've been practicing Dags' contrails because I have a comic sketched that I want to colour and her contrails are just all OVER the place it in, lol

Regular learning is a good thing. Drawing every day, new Photoshop trick every month....
