Description
The whole reason, the WHOLE reason, I even brought Bee to Jordan was to get his shot. Hell, this was practically the real reason I even bought him (also he's just so darn cute, aren't you, you big scawwy wobot youAhem.
TFP Bumblebee at Petra, standing in front of Aldeir, known as the Monastery in English. It was originally carved by Nabatean architects imitating grecian design and was probably a temple or a tomb, but in the later Byzantine occupation it was appropriated as a monastery. You may recognize it as the once-resting place of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership before an irate yellow robot smashed through the back of it.
I showed this picture on my camera to one of the Bedouin (who was a spitting Johnny Depp look-alike, I kid you not), and he told me he remembered they closed the whole mountain for three days to film that one scene. Sheesh.

Β totally recognize this place from TF2!! When my grandpa went to Egypt a few years ago, who joked that the Pyramids didn't look like they'd been thrashed by Devastator. Hardy-har-har to him.

I cry a single little tear whenever priceless ancient monuments get destroyed in films

I love TFP Bee! He's so lovable in the series. When Raf was hurt, you just wanted to give the poor baby a hug

Brilliant! One of these days I'm going to get back there with my Ironhide. People might not remember TF2 was shot there by the time that happens, lol. Ever run into old people who talk about, 'When I was young, they shot a very popular movie here,' in random places? Yup, that's going to be me. HAHAHA!
Great shot! Good thing it was open and you were able to get up to it. Can you imagine getting all the way there and finding out it's closed? I would be so upset! I wonder how many people didn't get to see it while they were filming...Though, hopefully they knew beforehand.

Oh, it is such an incredible place. I've been there three tomes and each had been unique and memorable.
And I would hope those people got in on a different day. Though I was led to believe the filming only closed the Monastery, the rest of Petra would still have been open. Still... sucks for those people because it really is incredible

Oh, TFP Bee is actually very respectful to ancient ruins. When I'm around, at least

This was kind of his big moment this whole trip. We were both looking forward to it from the start. Now he can relax, his superbness assured

It is breathtaking. I left early in the morning so as to get this shot without anyone else in it. If you want some idea of scale, the step just in front of the door there is about a foot taller than I am

There was a convenient rock ledge that was at the perfect height and distance for this shot. Once I got this set up perfected, I took one of him moonwalking across the front of it

Petra is breath taking--I mean--just this shot--that seamless rock and the carvings. You touch it and you're touching so much time and a part of the Earth and human spirit.
Okay, and Bee is cute too.

Being close enough to touch something like this is such an odd feeling... I keep thinking I'll feel some connection to the people who built it, but really it feels like it's just... there. It's so monumental, it and the unseen construction crew who built it 2000 years ago is so far removed from my scope of sight that it feels like it sprang up all on its own. I have to look at the anchor steps left by the scaffolding and the chisel marks inside the chamber and then I can see that people made it using tools that I myself know how to use. Then I can feel that connection.
This picture is kind of the bare essence of what means the most to me in life: my robots, and the ancient past. Not necessarily in that order
