Since I have very few OTPs (Arnold/Helga is one of the few; it and Phoebe/Gerald and maybe Lila/Brainy), I get reminded of tons of ships for any given songs, especially the ones I discovered because of a ship.

i like lila, she's ever so nice in her own oh so quirky way but i don't think about her very much other then being the sweet girl that probably still hangs with arnold and helga sometimes
but like, idk how to feel about brainy? like he's funny and all but like, brainy and curly are both those "i think they're pretty neat but i know absolutely nothing about them so i don't really have much more to input here" characters

The first fanwork that really got me shipping them was a story that centers on Helga, Arnold, Gerald, Phoebe, Lila and Brainy at college with the latter two having become friends with both Helga and each other and being in the middle of a love misunderstanding because Lila misinterpreted something Brainy told her a long time ago. And Helga gets a creepy stalker just when she's been told if she gets into another fight, she'll be expelled. No one's happy about that to begin with because she only got in trouble because some jerk tried to molest Phoebe but everything ultimately works out.
The other stuff by the author is great and generally pretty sweet, with one story even revolving around Gerald and Phoebe's wedding with a subplot about everyone trying to hook up Lila and Brainy.
