Mad Hatter glowered at Wyvern. "You really are an amateur," he hissed out of the side of his mouth. "It's called the meet and GREET! Not the meet and EAT! You welcome them now, and then eat them later." He clenched his teeth for emphasis. Then he closed his eyes and calmed himself before turning back to the guests.
"Welcome to Fairy Land!" he said cheerfully. "It's so nice to have you. Yes, I do have a hole in my sock. Thank you for noticing. And no, I don't know how I keep them so white. It's fairy land!" he beamed. "It's where fanciful things happen. Won't you come this way? he motioned. "Will you be staying for dinner? I must say,...your wife appears to be quite the dish. Wouldn't you agree, Wyrern?
Wyvern perked right up. Almost clapping his claws, and flicking his tongue.
But Mad Hatter shut him down with a cautioning stare.
Wyvern slumped back down and then fell in line behind the crowd.
He could already taste dinner.
