i've never been much for the stats and backstory of this mecha from the rpg, but i like the looks in this paintscheme.

now that i think about it, this artwork might work well for a revival of the 'VF-1V Vindicator' (a sort of oversized alpha in the 1st edition RPG based on some misinterprited scenes in one episode)
make it VF-1 sized, with alpha style transformation but a different weapons load, maybe fluff it as being from the early UEEF days, when there was no beta but a heavier fighter was needed.. hmm..
