Description Just another of my dragon species.
not much more to say.

Hexapodosaurus aendovelicus umm...not much to say...it lives in the middle east areas and is adapted to desert heat...this species is about 17ft tall and maybe 36-42ft long.

Wow! Nice work with the anatomy! I really like the way you've jointed the wings and made them 'work', it's a great design idea.

This is an extremely cool and original idea; I don't think I've ever seen anybody handle the wings of a dragon-like creature as additional walking limbs analogous to the primary load-bearing legs. Sends my imagination in all kinds of crazy directions, thinking about the potential for similar designs in insects, gliding reptiles, etc. etc. Really cool stuff!

I really do appreciate this comment, especially from an INCREDIBLE artist as yourself. I've liked the idea of uses the wings as another pair of limbs and still function and actual wings as well. I believe I got the idea from Rodrigo's "Centocephalic Dragon." I'd be honored if you really did use my work as a source of inspiration. Thank you again!

I have two small critiques to make. First, from this angle, the silhouette of the creature is a bit unclear. In fact, I'm totally unable to determine if it has one or two front legs. They seem to merge down at the elbow, and I'm not sure it's what you want since this creature is called hexapodosaur ( six legged lizard ). I would suggest pulling apart the front limbs so that the shape reads better.

Second, the antorbital fenestrae is a bit too defined, and it can be confused with a really big eye. And since the real eye of your dragon is quite small, it diverts us from it. Maybe you could blend a bit more this hole into the face so the eye becomes the center of attention.

Tell me what you think!

Apart from this, the anatomy is quite good, and the idea too!

Ahh, its easier to fix perspective and shading than to fix anatomy. I appreciate the critique

Terrichance [2011-03-10 03:50:48 +0000 UTC]

Lovely piece of art, but I hope you don't mind a few biological questions... I can see that the wing limbs are in the process of turning back into ground locomotor appendages. Since it lives in a desert environment, would I be incorrect in guessing that the wing membrane itself is being repurposed for heat dissipation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kevcatalan In reply to Terrichance [2011-03-10 11:57:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, the wings themselves aren't devolving back into legs. They just help with locomotion(weight distribution and all that good stuff...Like a wyvern, but it just happens to have legs as well. And yes, having the wing membrane as a way of heat dissipation would be very likely. I hadn't really thought of it, but I enjoy the idea. Thank you.

Awesome. oh and don't take this the wrong way but for some reason when I read the title my brain decided to make it say "hippopotamus"...idk why.
