This happens to me a lot. With everything, not just religion. Even fandoms are getting to be this way.

I can't tell you how many arguments I have gotten into with people about religion alone, even without telling them what religion I am from. And then there are those people who assume right away if you disagree with them, it makes you the opposite, like say, a feminist. A lot of people jump to conclusions that you are a feminist if you support something that seems to bash men or greatly empower women.
So right there with you. You can't please everyone but just do what you feel and everything should be alright in the end, yes?

What's sad is if you're a Christian, people will think you're some overly religious nut who believes gays should be killed off and if you're atheist, people believe that you're going to go to Hell for not believing in God. I say ignore those kind of people and follow the religion you want to follow.

The point being that a person declaring their specific definition of a particular group to be the only correct one happens everywhere, regardless of which ist/ian you're talking about - that it is fundamentally a human failing, rather than one tied to a specific group.

What's sad is just like there are people who follow celebrities like vultures to people who have never heard their name before and that happens in everything. Though I will agree in religion, it is much more likely to have the people on the more extreme end try and shove it down your throat, like politics.

It makes me mad that, if you're a part of an organization, believe in a certain opinion, that they automatically link you to something else which isn't always good. One of my least favourite ones is that when you say you're a feminist, people automatically think that you're a bitch that likes to put down men. Granted there are feminists, and others, like that the term feminist just means you're trying to empower women to equal rights. Anyways, that's just an example.Β

Yeah.... belief systems, political affiliations, and social movements tend to be pretty black and white, which is somewhat annoying. We need a Grey awareness month so people can realize that middle ground exsists

When you put a label on yourself, anything anyone ever said under that label can and will be associated with you.

...and even if you don't put a label on yourself, someone else is bound to put a label on you and then use that label to associate you with anything anyone ever said under that label.

I can totally agree with this. The fact that some people are so closed-minded, that anyone who doesn't agree 100% with them is automatically shunned. It can beΒ hard to enjoy life when people/groups try and tell you how to think or act.Β I have a belief system and a political agenda that areΒ pretty much a jumble of bits and pieces fromΒ many ideals, and I feel good because it suits me. So, don't say I'm wrong just because I don't agree with EVERYTHING you think or say.
