I remember the first time I was summoned for jury duty, I was sitting in my chair mentally chanting 'Please don't pick me, please don't pick me.' What happened? I was the FIRST person picked.
I muttered 'SHIT!' a little louder than I intended.

Funny you should reply to that comment, because I had to return for jury selection today X( Thankfully I wasn't picked, but I still have to return to court tomorrow for other trials. RRRGGH!

You have to sit in a room for the entire day, waiting to see if you'll be picked to be considered for being on a jury. While waiting in that room, there's basically nothing to do; not even a TV or radio because in case you get put on a jury, they don't want you to be biased about any possible cases.
While I love watching trials, and did so several times during high school beyond the ones I needed to attend as part of my public law class (The county sheriff explained to me how things were in the Jury selection room at the time). I think I would enjoy the chance of being on a jury, so long as I could at least read in the jury selection room

omg srsly? jury duty is where you determine if some guy goes to jail or not! plus you can't read the newspaper or watch the news or anything so you can be "unbiased" on the case. i dont think its actually fun, but you get paid is what i hear.
